Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and understood, especially when facing mental health challenges. The Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Family Foundation Pediatric Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center provides critical care and stabilization for children in mental health crisis, ensuring they receive the care they need in the most urgent moments.
At LHAAMC, 20,000 pediatric patients are seen annually in the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Family Foundation Pediatric Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit. Of these patients, 10% arrive in mental health crisis, needing a space where they will be safe and a well-trained team to stabilize and connect them with the best treatment option. When a child arrives at LHAAMC in urgent need of mental health care, insurance often only covers the first day of treatment. Many young patients require days, or even weeks, of specialized care, and meeting these needs puts a heavy financial strain on our hospital.
Every day, our dedicated team meets these challenges with compassion, providing care and hope when it matters most. With the support of our community, we ensure our team is equipped with the specialized training and tools they need to deliver the best possible care. This includes everything from specialized crisis stabilization training, thoughtfully designed spaces, protective gear, and specially trained sitters that keep these vulnerable patients safe, supported, and comfortable.
There are so many meaningful ways to be part of the Denim & Diamonds Bash. Whether by attending the event, joining us as a sponsor or committee member, making a donation, or simply helping spread the word about this important cause, every act of support makes an impact.
From all of us at LHAAMC and the LHAAMC Foundation Board of Directors, thank you for your generosity, your care, and your commitment to brighter, healthier futures for all.
